I just received a phone call from Miss Hill with Social Security in Columbia. I said “Hello” and then she began to berate me and talk to me in an extremely rude and unprofessional manner. She said I was supposed to be in Columbia today at 10am. I told her that my attorney had sent a letter explaining the situation. She said “Well I didn’t get no letter!”. She said I should have called. I told her my attorney and I tried calling. She then asked for my attorneys name. Shen then sarcastically said “No I aint talked to her.” Here are some things she said without allowing me to hardly talk:
    You are wasting my time.
You are wasting other people’s time.
You have delayed your case by not coming and others by us not being able to fill your appointment time.
I will not be available again for 2 weeks.
I have appointments and cannot talk. (when I asked could I call her or my attorney call….why give your name and phone number on official documents if you cannot talk????)

My attorney had advised that I not seek SSI since my disability was already approved and being processed. This lady pushed me to the point of wanting to really give her a piece of my mind. However, before I could….she hung up on me. I do not think anyone deserves this attitude. I suggest that Miss CR Hill be retrained on proper phone etiquette and proper use of grammar when speaking to clients. If not, she may need to seek employment elsewhere where client contact is in no way involved. Unfortunately, this is what it takes to improve company infrastructure sometimes.

I wish I could say how pleasant she was. However, there is no way this would happen unless drastic changes were made regarding her training and an apology was issued. I hired, trained, and discharged people for over a decade before becoming disabled. Any personnel manager, general manager, or persons designated to handle daily activities of company employees should be made aware of such rogue employee activities. Social Security is the same as any other business….it has clients to serve. If an employee cannot provide proper customer service then some type of intervention should occur to better the employee or discharge when deemed necessary. Miss CR Hill is the most unprofessional, rude, condescending, and obnoxious person I have ever spoken with.

Miss CR Hill….if this review is passed along to you or when you get my attorneys letter from your mail room or when you become available to accept phone calls between your thousands of daily clients or check your voice mail….a phone call to apologize would be great. However, if everyone in your office shares your distaste for clients I don’t expect this review to make it farther than a PC trash bin.
